That was Then, This is Now...

I have been reading about James Madison. He was a founding father and the fourth President of the United States. I have to add that for all you government-educated kids who don’t have a clue who he is.

Anyways, I ran across this message from the past and quote from Madison:

“The government of the United States is a definite government, confined to specified objects. It is not like the state government, whose powers are more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government.”

Of course, that was then, this is now. If you listen to the presidential candidates you would think the primary purpose of our federal government is to redistribute wealth and provide free charitable services to everyone.
