This is a must read letter to the editor from one fed up parent who has learned the lesson of sending her daughter to a government ran school the hard way. RIP George Carlin

One of the funniest men to ever walk the Earth is no longer with us today. Comedian George Carlin died of heart failure at St. Johns Health Center in Santa Monica, Ca. on Sunday. He was 71 years old.

One of my favorite George Carlin routines was the seven words you can’t say on TV. Do I need to tell you NOT SAFE FOR WORK? I shouldn’t, unless you have been living in a cave your whole life.

This story takes us to Canada were Marcel Perrot is on the run from police. Perrot allegedly test drove a truck from a Edmonton dealership, stopped at a bank during the test drive and robbed it to get money to buy the truck, while the car salesman waited in the truck.

Now I have heard Larry the Cable guy say “Sometimes you have to wreck the truck to get the insurance money to make the truck payment,” which I think may have been his greatest moment of genius, but robbing the bank to buy a used truck with the salesman in the truck! Is Obama flip flopping on Iraq?

It has not been a secret to anyone where Barack Obama’s position is on the war in Iraq. He is against it and has been against it since the beginning. Obama voted against the authorization to use force and voted against continued funding of the war.

Shortly before announcing his candidacy for president in November of 2006, Obama laid out his strategy for Iraq. At that time, Iraq looked like a lost cause, a quagmire, a country on the verge of sectarian civilian war, and Obama wanted out as soon as possible.

Obama’s plan was to immediately begin withdrawing troops from Iraq with a fixed timetable at a rapid pace. Obama even elaborated on his plan during a primary presidential debate against Hillary Clinton claiming; we would be out of Iraq in 16 months after he took office.

Today the situation in Iraq has changed dramatically for the better, violence and attacks are down at a monumental rate and the Iraqi government and Army controls most of the country. It would be safe to say the surge worked and great progress has been made, but not enough to change Obama’s mind for a withdrawal. Although Obama now uses a slight different tone, instead of bringing all the troops home Obama now proposes withdrawing most US troops according to a fixed timetable, set to the most rapid pace at which commanders have said American forces could be pulled out.

Iraq’s foreign minister Hoshyar Zerbari finds his proposal extremely disconcerting. Mr Zebari says after all the pain and sacrifices of the past five years, “we are just turning the corner in Iraq.” A precipitous withdrawal “would create a huge vacuum and undo all the gains and achievements and cause our enemies to celebrate.

Mr. Zerbari sent a message directly to Obama basically telling him progress is being made and he hopes any action Obama would take will not endanger this process.

Now here is where the story gets interesting. It was Obama’s reply that captured my attention.

“If there would be a Democratic administration, it will not take any irresponsible, reckless, sudden decisions or action to endanger your gains, your achievements, your stability or security. Whatever decision reached will be made through close consultation with the Iraqi government and US military commanders in the field.”

Say what??? That doesn’t sound like the same Obama position. What are we to make of this? Flip Flop? Is it a genuine change of mind on the situation? I have said since the 9-11 attacks the greatest threat and issue facing this nation is Islamic terrorism, and like it or not the greatest front in the fight against Islamic terrorism is now in Iraq. Whether you were for the war or against the war is irrelevant. It is now time to win the war.

So here we have a presidential candidate promising his supporters a speedy withdrawal…then we have a foreign minister say a speedy withdrawal would be disastrous...then the presidential candidate says we’ll consult with you on how to handle the situation… Can Obama really have it both ways?

I don’t know folks, perhaps he can…Zerbari says after talking to Obama he was reassured and now thinks there might not be much difference between him and John McCain on the issue of Iraq.

I guess that is what the Obama campaign means by “change you can believe in.” You can believe Obama will change his mind depending on who he is talking with.

Democrat Rep. Kanjorski: The people ate it up!

Have you seen this tasty little quote from Pennsylvania Democrat Congressman Paul Kanjorski? Here is a video of Kanjorski admitting the Democrats lied about the situation and pulling out of Iraq during the 2006 mid-term elections. Here is the quote:

“I’ll tell you my impression. We really in this last election, when I say we…the democrats…that if we won the Congressional elections we could stop the war. Now anybody who’s a good student of government would know that wasn’t true. But you know…the temptation to want to win back the Congress…we sort of stretched the facts, and the people ate it up.”

Well, there you go. The democrats know who their constituents are and they depend on them to always “eat it up” or as I call it drink the kool-aide. Now they are drinking new Obama change flavor. I wonder what the after taste will be like on that one.

Liberal New York Times celebrates $4.00 gas and death to the SUV!!!

I told you liberals are happy with $4.00 gas prices! No, you will never here a liberal politician say it. No, they will say things like we need to conserve fuel, lessen our dependency on oil by finding alternative fuel sources, but here is a piece from the New York Times that confirms my assumptions that liberals are happy with $4.00 gas because of “global warming.”

The New York Times says $4.00 gas is good for the global warmers because the SUV era is coming to an end.

“It’s hard to convince most Americans that there is a silver lining to $4-a-gallon gasoline. But General Motors provided a nugget of good news when it announced that it would shutter much of its production of pickups and sport utility vehicles…”

“A nugget of good news?” Do these liberals ever take into consideration how many jobs were lost at GM in this “nugget of good news?” Of course that doesn’t matter, after all we are trying to save a world from the gas guzzling SUV that is causing “global warming.”

The Times goes on to tell us higher gas prices can take as much of 15% of the income from rural families where pickup trucks are a necessity more than a way of life. It also tells us higher gas prices is the cause of rising food prices and hurting the economy but then in the very next paragraph:

“Still Americans’ response to rising gasoline prices makes an excellent case for a gas tax. It proves that drivers will change their behavior in response to high fuel prices. And even if Detroit doesn’t buy global warming, drivers can help persuade it to embrace fuel efficiency. They don’t even have to know that the Honda Civic emits less than half the 13 tons of greenhouse gases spewed by the Ford F-150.”

Finally…a liberal proves my theory taxes are used to influence behavior. Now doesn’t that sound like freedom?

More importantly though, this liberal is basically saying the hell with the economy, the hell with rising food prices; we need higher fuel prices to prevent “global warming.”

A New York man wants to sue the state in order to prove state aid to business, or what I like to call corporate welfare, is unconstitutional. Good luck with that.

Big T Idiot of the Week.

Once again it is Monday and that means it is time to select the Big T idiot of the week. This week we find our idiot in a Missouri Home Depot store.

Haywood Rosales claims he was injured after being glued to a toilet seat in a Home Depot store restroom and has filed a lawsuit against the retail giant for negligence.

Rosales says he did not notice the toilet seat was covered with adhesive before sitting down and then had to use his cell phone to call for help after becoming glued to the seat.

Rosales also claims the removal of the seat caused cuts, bruising and tearing on his buttocks and thighs and he endured embarrassment and pain and suffering. He also claims his injury rendered him unable to work and is seeking $25,000 in damages.

Is Mr. Rosales serious? If anyone is to blame I would say it is him for not checking the seat out for himself. Seriously, when was the last time you used a public restroom without thoroughly checking the seat? I hope your answer is the same as mine, never.

You have to check the seat and failure to do so makes Mr. Rosales the Big T idiot of the week.

That was Then, This is Now...

I have been reading about James Madison. He was a founding father and the fourth President of the United States. I have to add that for all you government-educated kids who don’t have a clue who he is.

Anyways, I ran across this message from the past and quote from Madison:

“The government of the United States is a definite government, confined to specified objects. It is not like the state government, whose powers are more general. Charity is no part of the legislative duty of the government.”

Of course, that was then, this is now. If you listen to the presidential candidates you would think the primary purpose of our federal government is to redistribute wealth and provide free charitable services to everyone.

UNICEF Partners with Terrorist Organization

United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) is a charitable group chartered under the UN. I am not and have never been a fan. When it comes to UNICEF, I can think of plenty other charitable organizations doing wonderful things for children. This time UNICEF has really crossed the line into the dark side.

UNICEF has decided to partner with the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) based in Saudi Arabia. On the surface everything looks legit and alright, but then you find out the IIRO has been designated as a terrorist group by the United States and the UN itself!

In August 2006, the US Treasury Department designated two branches of the IIRO as terrorist organizations because they provided money and support to groups linked to al Qaeda including Abu Sayyaf in the Phillipines.

A former member of this group in the Philippines testifies a limit amount of foreign funding for the IIRO goes to legitimate projects and the rest of the money goes to terrorist operations.

This group, as well as others, is on the UN 1267 Committee’s consolidated list of individuals and entities associated with the Taliban, al Qaeda and Osama Bin Ladin.

I have asked it before, and I will ask it again. Why are we still a part of the UN? Why do we continue to fund the UN? The UN is the biggest waste of taxpayer money ever!

PETA would never treat a cow that way, but I guess it's OK for an intern. Many organizations that focus on extremes could take note that leading through example makes more impact than demonstrating with hypocrisy. "1,000 Words" is a weekly pictorial commentary on events in Greater Memphis and around the world. Today's "1,000 Words" was written by Mike Brown, a photographer for The Commercial Appeal.

Obama finally leaves his church

After more than twenty years in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Barack Obama has decided that the time has come to leave his church. I guess he got tired of trying to justify his membership.

His announcement came days after Trinity’s guest Catholic Priest Michael Pfledger made the comment; “racism is still America’s greatest addiction. I also believe America is the greatest sin against God,” during a sermon.

In his announcement Obama said he is not denouncing the church, but will no longer be attending.

“It’s clear that now that I’m a candidate for president, every time something is said in the church by anyone associated with Trinity, including guest pastors, the remarks will imputed to me even if they totally conflict with my long-held views, statements and principles.”

This is no doubt an attempt to distance himself from Father Pfledger. In fact if Obama was asked about the priest’s comments he would probably tell us he was unfamiliar with the priest or never heard him say anything like that before. At least that is the kind of excuses we heard about his own pastor of twenty years Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

The fact of the matter is Obama can’t distance himself from these people because this is who Barack Obama is…For more than twenty years Obama sat in this church on Sundays and no doubt listened to sermons carrying the same: “I hate America because it is racist theme” and never once felt compelled to leave until now.

It is this “Hate America” theme that keeps coming up…Rev. Wright’s comments: “God Damn America” to his own wife who has: “never been proud to be an American until now.” Now we have Father Pfledger saying: America is the greatest sin against God… Oh and let’s not forget about that Cuban Che Guevara flags at an Obama campaign headquarters…

I have said it once, and I will say it again. You can tell a lot about a man by the company he keeps and this is the company Barrack Obama has kept for the past twenty years.

Hillarycare II: the sequel

OK…first off this is straight off the rumor mill. I have not been able to find anything concrete about this, but rumor has it if Barrack Obama he will either give Hillary Clinotn a cabinet position or put her in charge of his healthcare initiative.

Hillarycare II: the sequel. If this doesn’t scare the life out of you then maybe you don’t remember Hillarycare I. In 1993 Bill Clinton let Hillary propose a health care plan. (Probably to distract her from his extra-curricular activities with interns, but that is another story.) Anyways, in Hillarycare I it was illegal for you to use your own money and see a doctor of your choice. You could actually go to jail for such a crime! I can only imagine what Hillarycare II would bring to the table.

The main reason I even mention any of this is to just let you know thanks to the dumb masses of the government educated nationalized health care is on the way whether you like it or not. Give the democrats control of the White House, Senate and House this November; it will be here a lot earlier than you might think.

For whatever reasons the majority of Americans do not feel they should be responsible for their own healthcare. This thought is just idiotic to me. Your health is the most important thing in your life and you have no responsibility for its care? Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Anyways, under the circumstances John McCain actually has some fairly good ideas for handling the “health care crisis.” These ideas would involve private sector options and not government. For instance, give the same tax breaks to workers or individuals when they buy their own policies that businesses get when they buy health insurance for workers.

When it comes to healthcare liberals want to empower government and politicians. Conservatives want to empower the free market and individuals.

House Speaker Pelosi Praises Iran not US Military for Surge Success in Iraq

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi continued her support for the troops the only way she knows how, by discrediting their successes in Iraq. In her latest interview with the San Francisco Chronicle Pelosi claimed the US troops surge was a failure and then credited any success to “the goodwill of Iranians,” claiming they were responsible for ending violence in the southern city of Basra.

“Whatever the military success, and progress that may have been made, the surge didn’t accomplish its goal. And some of the success of the surge is that the goodwill of the Iranians—they decided in Basra when the fighting would end, they negotiated that cessation of hostilities—the Iranians,” Pelosi told the chronicle in an interview lasting over an hour discussing various different topics.

Is this woman insane! She will not mention anything if it will reflect well on the US military or US policy, but will quickly butter up the Iranians. The same Iranians that are funding insurgent activities in Iraq and Afghanistan!

Is it possible Pelosi doesn’t know the Iranian-brokered-cease-fire in Basra fell through and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki ordered Iraqi Security Forces who with the help of US and coalition forces brought the Sadrists militias to their knees in a battle lasting a month driving insurgents out of Basra? How dare she downplay the sacrifice made from the blood sweat and tears of thousands of military service members and their families!

Of course this is common response from Nancy Pelosi. She has made comments similar to this in the past.

Considering the fact that democrats are still invested in our defeat in Iraq, and good news from Iraq is bad news for democrats Pelosi must feel this trip was productive for the cause. Discounting the success of the military, denying the accomplishments of the Iraqi Security Forces and giving credit to one of our most dangerous enemies puts her at the top for democrats on Capitol Hill.

Yesterday I mentioned Obama should make a trip to Iraq this summer, but after Pelosi’s treasonous affair there is really no reason for Obama to make this trip after all.

Where has the Big T Been?

The month of May has been a busy one for me…I just moved into a new place. It is like the 10th time I have moved and it never gets easier. I am also on vacation visiting family and friends in rural Illinois for almost the whole month of June. I plan on doing some blogging while there though.

Anyways, I am pretty much settled in and I have my internet connection up and running. So let’s get to it.

D-Day 64 years Later

Friday marked the 64th Anniversary of D-Day. Unfortunately the day came and went unnoticed by most Americans and thanks to our wonderful government ran education system the younger generation of Americans do not even know what D-Day is.

Here is a refresher. June 6, 1944 more than 850,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy. Thousands of US Soldiers lost their lives as the ocean water literally turned red with American blood. It wasn’t until mid-July that the Allied forces were able to break through the German lines. If you need a visual refresher put in the movie “Saving Private Ryan” into your DVD player. The beginning of the movie was D-Day.

850,000 Soldiers for one operation! We don’t have half that many in Iraq or Afghanistan combined and not at one time have we lost thousands of Soldiers in less than a month’s time in the war on terror.

Where mistakes made in the battle plans for D-Day? You bet they were. Did the battle go as planned? Not exactly…Did Republicans bash Democrat President Franklin D. Roosevelt the way today’s Democrats bash President George W. Bush on mistakes made? Hell no…that was unthinkable. Instead the country united to win the fight. I often wonder how different the fight we are in now would have went had democrats got behind the war effort to show our enemies a unified front.

Here is another thing that would never have been allowed to happen today without extreme controversy. On the hour of US troops landing on the beaches FDR addressed the nation and led them in prayer for our nation and its Servicemembers.

I would also like to see if you notice the American spirit that reminds us when our nation is facing evil, we find the resources, the courage, and the innovation to win and defeat our enemies and not make excuses or come up with reasons why we can not win. Then ask yourself the most important question facing our nation today. Is that American spirit from WWII still alive today?

It's back: The Big T Idiot of the Week

I can’t think of a better story than this one to bring back the idiot of the week segment on the blog.

This week’s idiot is a 64 year-old-woman from Danville, Calif. This lady wakes up one morning and decides she has had enough of these high gas prices, and she is going to do something about it.

Her solution? She grabs some fireplace logs and some matches, marches down to her local Arco and Chevron gas stations and starts a fire. And then for reasons unknown goes over to the local Starbucks and starts a blaze there also.

Does this woman actually believe gas stations have any control over the price of gas? Does she honestly think starting a fire on private property and burning up a gas station is going to help lower the price of gas?

If this woman had any sense of economics she would understand that gas prices are up because production is not meeting the high demand for gas. In other words there is a gas shortage. If you burn down a gas station and they lose all their gas then there is even more of a shortage.

And why the hell a Starbucks? What does coffee have to do with gas?

Anyways the woman is in jail and her bail is posted at $810,000. She is The Big T Idiot of the Week.

Britain says the US is in a Great Depression

There Oughta be a new Congressman in Illinois.

Stupid ideas never die and come from both sides of the political aisle. This time the good idea fairy is 6th District Illinois Republican Congressman Peter J. Roskam.

Roskam proposed his “There Oughta be a Law” initiative at a press conference in Bloomingdale, IL. Tuesday and released the following statement on his website:

“As a member of Congress, I have learned first hand what most 6th District residents already know, Washington is broken. Partisan politics have hamstrung Congress’ ability to find solutions to the most pressing problems our nation faces.”

“The constituents I represent are reasonable folks with sound ideas – and it’s time to send a little more 6th District solutions to Washington,” said Roskam. “Therefore I am proud to give my constituents the unique opportunity to have their legislative idea introduced in Congress. The very best way to restore faith in our nation’s government is to empower individuals. This is the ultimate definition of representative government.”

“Working together, we will send more common sense to Washington and Springfield.”

And more damn laws. You know one of the problems we have in this country is there are to many laws already on the books. Congressmen like Roskam -- and believe me he isn’t the only one -- thinks it his duty to add even more laws to the books. At least he wants to give you a say in what new laws might be I guess.

Of course this is not a new idea. Similar types of contest have been used in other places. In 2005 Pennsylvania Republican Congressman Tom Stevens proposed a bill from an 11-year-old boy that would require drivers to keep their dogs heads inside the vehicle at all times and require dogs to be in seatbelts or some type of carrying transport devise.

Wow, I can’t wait for more ridiculous legislation like that.

If we are going to have an “Oughta be a Law” contest then we should have some Big T law proposals:

1.Two-year term limits for idiots like Peter J. Roskam.
2. For each new proposed law, two older laws (related or not) will be proposed for removal.
3. The next congressman to propose a law out of the guidelines of the constitution shall be shot by the people.

Of course if I were to have it my way there would be an “Ought not be a Law” contest to suggest laws that infringe on freedom and our in desperate need of repeal.

Dems use footage of IEDs killing Soldiers in new Anti-war add against McCain

I am highly disappointed at the Democrat National Committee for exploiting footage of an IED attack on American Soldiers in Iraq to run anti-war ads against Sen. John McCain, but I am definitely not surprised. This is the type of behavior I have come to expect from the party invested in our defeat.

What is the most disturbing part is democrats are using these images of Soldiers killed by IEDs to get votes and raise money. Al Qaeda uses the same images to raise money, gain support and solicit martyrs. One has got to wonder; where did the DNC get this footage, and just what side are they actually on?

You know there is an old Arab proverb “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
In this case, the DNC using terrorist propaganda to advance themselves, it becomes the enemy of my enemy is my philosophically agreeable friend.
