A woman in a Chicago suburb is ecstatic over the fact she owns Barack Obama’s old Jeep Grand Cherokee. You know, I would sell that baby while Obama is hot because it is going to be a worthless piece of #$%@ after November.

DNC coverage Night 2

Coming to a Bumper Sticker Near You.

“No way, no how, no McCain.” Quote from Hillary Clinton during her DNC speech.

C-SPAN is the Best

I found a new way to watch the convention last night. It is called C-SPAN! Yeah, no more idiotic CNN or FOX News talking heads telling me how I should think and feel about what I just heard. No more pandering comments from bias journalist, just a running tape of the convention. Amazing!

The Night Belonged to Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton owned the night. It was a great speech. In fact, it may have been the best speech of her whole political career.

Of course the speech was more about her than it was about Barack Obama, but Clinton accomplished everything she needed to. She did the lets support Barack Obama and the party, rallied the crowd to their feet, and finally sparked some enthusiasm in this convention.

What she really accomplished, and this was her goal all along, was to show the convention delegates and America that she should have been the VP choice if not the candidate.

Bottom line, Hillary hit a grand slam. It was a good night to be a democrat, but it was also a good night to be a republican, because she is not on the ticket. If Obama had chose her as his running mate it would be over for John McCain!

I definitely feel better about November without her on the ticket.

John McCain gains in polls during the DNC???

According to the latest gallop poll John McCain has gained and actually taken the lead over Barack Obama. This is the first time in history the opposition candidate has gained ground in the polls during a convention. I smell landslide in November folks.

The America Sucks without Our Help Convention

That seems to be the theme. Monday night it was all about party unification. It was dull. It was boring and uninspiring. Last night unity was still the theme, but there was a tone of America sucks without our help.

Now to me, this is an uninspiring theme, but democrats love it! They love to be told how bad they have it in America, and how their government is going to make it all better for them.

There was a lot of talk about those evil rich corporations sending American jobs overseas. I even heard someone say, there is no reason these corporations cannot do business in America, and we’re going to make them, and the crowd goes wild….

Gee, I can think of a reason. How about these corporations have been taxed out of America!

Oil prices are to high, and it is our fault because we won’t conserve fuel. We won’t drive smaller cars. So, were going to give you tax breaks on fuel economy cars.

How about we allow oil companies to drill here, drill now and pay less? Something democrats will not allow.

Another theme, we are fighting for universal healthcare, because every American has the right to affordable healthcare. Really? I must have missed that right in my copy of the Constitution.
It is just so bad in America times are so hard. We got to have Barrack Obama come along and fix it all for us, because we are to inadequate to take care of ourselves. We got to have government do it for us.

Government dependency, it is motivating and inspiring to democrats, makes me wants to puke!

The Cult of the Messiah, Barack Obama, Our Lord

No he has never walked on water or sated the hunger of 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and a couple of fish, but Barack Obama continues to attract Jesus comparisons from many of his followers since announcing his candidacy for the presidency.

He has been introduced several times as a savior of the Democrat Party. An artist created a sculpture depicting Obama as the messiah with a crowned halo that was actually displayed with much controversy at the Chicago Institute of Art during the Easter holiday in 2006.

For several months now I have shrugged off the Messiah, Barack Obama stuff claiming it to be a small minority of liberal whack jobs operating from a strong emotional base that ignores reason. Reason, of course, would point out that Obama’s policies are about the same as any other liberal democrat and his experience is minimal. However, in many instances the phenomenon has become practically cult like, as one blogger who tracks these events on the blog “Is Barrack Obama the Messiah?” writes:

... And when [OBAMA] was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

There is no reference as to where the above statement came from or if it is the personal work of the blogger, but what is clear is this is not just some random act of Obama worship from a small group on the left. In fact this seems to be a new hysteria that has over taken the left as a whole.

To those who worship at his feet this is not out of the ordinary. To them he is the man of all things great. If you type in the key words Obama messiah at Google you’ll get about 1.5 million results. That is a disturbing number within itself, but the real concern comes from the way people describe their emotional reactions to this former unknown politician from Chicago.

San Francisco Chronicle Columnist Mark Muford explains to us that Obama is a higher being than the rest of us in his column “Is Obama an Enlightened Being?”

Barack Obama isn’t really one of us. Not in the normal way, anyway … it’s not merely his youthful vigor, or handsomeness, or even inspiring rhetoric … It is something more … a sort of powerful luminosity, a unique high-vibration integrity.

Dismiss it if you like, but I’ve heard from far too many enormously smart, wise, spiritually attuned people who’ve been intuitively blown away by Obama’s presence—not speeches, not policies, but sheer presence…

Many spiritually-advanced people I know identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who casually help usher in a new way of being on the planet…. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.

Chris Matthews, a talking head from MSNBC whom one may make the argument has some professional objectivity left, listened to an Obama speech and claimed it was the “New Testament”

“I’ve been following politics since I was about five,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like this. This is bigger than Kennedy. Obama comes along, and he seems to have the answers. This is the New Testament. This is surprising.”

Others want to give Obama his own chapter in the good book!

“What Barack Obama has accomplished is the single most extraordinary event that has occurred in the 232 years of the nation’s political history. The event itself is so extraordinary that another chapter could be added to the Bible to chronicle its significance,” declared Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. of Chicago.

Those are some strong statements made about a man with no real substantial accomplishments in his political career, but what is really agitating and frightful is how little interest Obama followers and the media have in the actual track record of the political savior with the cry for “change.”

It is also disgustingly amazing and frightening to watch Barack Obama get cheers and applause from a crowd during a rally in Dallas, Texas during the primary race for blowing his nose and then declare, “I am confident we can create a kingdom right here on Earth,” or when women faint in the mere presence of his existence. (Which interestingly enough has not happened again since the news of “swoon-mania” broke.)

Is it possible people have lost their sense of God to such a degree they are worshiping a presidential candidate?

One needs to look no deeper into the question than the supporters themselves.

In a letter to the editor of the Charleston Journal Gazette Time Courier, in Illinois Steve Davis writes:

What if God decided to incarnate as men preaching “hope and change.” And what if we didn’t recognize them, because we are so dull, and let them slip away, not availing ourselves of the opportunity to be led by God!

“I believe in Barack Obama,” yells one supporter at a rally. “It’s almost like a revival for a lot of people’s souls,” extolled another.

As the crowds gather to worship their messiah, he declares himself the Democrat candidate, and then capitalizes on the dumb masses with the same type of rhetoric he used to capture them in the first place.

"The journey will be difficult. The road will be long. I face this challenge with profound humility, and knowledge of my own limitations. But I also face it with limitless faith in the capacity of the American people. Because if we are willing to work for it, and fight for it, and believe in it, then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on Earth. This was the moment - this was the time - when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves, and our highest ideals."

All this delivered to a hyped applauding cheering crowd with so much emotion it nearly drowned the candidate out with noise.

This has been the strategy of the Obama campaign. Instead of focusing on policies and accomplishments, which are extremely limited, they have played on emotions of their supporters.

As this story, “Obama Basic Training” by John Hill of the Sacramento Bee, points out Obama volunteers were told to share conversion stories about how they came to support Obama and not his policy views. If asked about policy issues refer people to the Obama website.

This is what makes this more like a cult than a political campaign. Obama strategist sound more like evangelical Christians exclaiming how they came to Obama in the same way born-again Christians tell about how they came to Jesus.

Even Obama’s campaign logo has more of an iconography cult feeling to it for a political campaign. Most of the time the usual political poster is simple. It either has the candidate’s name in patriotic colors, as well as some nice adjectives attributing abilities and experience to his leadership like this John McCain poster to the left.

Other times it is a picture or photograph of a candidate, usually in color, looking either firm or friendly. To the left is a good example of that from Hillary Clinton’s camp.

Obama’s political material takes on a whole other world. The Obama Online store, which is an official part of the Obama campaign, hired propagandist artist Shepard Fairey to create Obama’s presidential campaign poster. This poster transcends the usual flag waiving national pride and instead portrays a new symbolic metaphor to go along with the candidate. Here is a look: As you see, Obama is no longer an ordinary mortal. He has now been elevated to a symbolic cult like figure, where his name is unnecessary. His goals unmentioned and his qualifications are irrelevant, which is convenient since he hardly has any. Instead, all that's left is his almost superhuman visage combined with one magical word: "change" or "hope." The political poster is no longer advertisement, but instead iconography.

The one-word message offers a simple-minded promise of utopian existence, much like the graphic style of the old totalitarian Soviet Union propaganda. It brings back the idealized portraits and personality cult of the “Beloved Leader” of Stalin and Lenin. The leader is illuminated by a “holy” light, looking off to the horizon at a truth that is not available to his mere mortal followers, who must look up to his image.

As is the case with other cults throughout history, perhaps the best metaphor for Obama and his followers is “mirage.” He shines and shows upon the horizon like water in a hot desert, but as the thirsty followers approaches closer they realize, usually to late, there is no water at all, but rather nothing, or sometimes something far worse.

Millions of the Messiah, Obama’s cult followers are thrilled the “mirage of change” is spreading across the nation this election year. They are so overwhelmed with the idea of change they aren’t even concerned what the change may be. But let us do what no politician ever wants us to do – stop and think for a moment.

In order for anyone to be successful with a mandate for change without a specific outline of what that change may be is to find a way to turn off people’s thinking and turn on their emotions.

This is precisely how Jim Jones led hundreds of people to their deaths at Jonestown, Lenin and Stalin created a regime of mass murder in Russia, Hitler rose to power in Germany and Mao in China.

The unification of people behind the “mirage of change” essentially means asking for a blank check in exchange for feel good rhetoric. That deal has been made several times in many different places throughout the history of the world – and millions of people have lived to regret it.

Obama says he wants to “heal America and repair the world.” I wonder if he plans to rest on the seventh day.

The way this campaign has been going one should not be surprised if a light shines through the windows of the Democratic National Convention followed by a big voice from the sky saying,
"Be not afraid; for I bring upon to you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: for there was born to you in the city of Chicago a Savior, the great messiah, who is Barack the Democrat."

The fact there are so many people ready to be swept along by such rhetoric is a huge danger, for it means the fate of this great nation is at risk from any skilled propagandist who comes along and can reach a cult like following.

Random Thought on Storm Gustav and the RNC

Tropical Storm Gustav is heading toward the Gulf of Mexico. It is projected to be a Category 3 hurricane and possibly hit the New Orleans coast on Sunday. Now, this is one day before the Republican National Convention.

Can anyone else but me see the media distraction from the convention this could cause or worse yet, what if it is another FEMA fiasco… The RNC could very easily become the irrellevant news story!

My John McCain VP list

There is no doubt the media has pinned Mitt Romney as the choice John McCain will make to accompany him on the ticket, but I don’t think that is going to happen. Here is why it won’t be Romney.

Although Romney picked up momentum toward the end of the primary and looks like he may energize the base of the party, It was more of an anti-McCain sentiment driving Romney to the front rather than a Romney is our guy momentum. Plus McCain and Romney have never seemed to like each other much. So it is really hard for me to see McCain offer him the job, although politics has made stranger bedfellows in the past.

I think John McCain will go with Rudy Giuliani. One reason I think this is the carpet was laid out the day Giuliani endorsed McCain after dropping out of the primary. If you will remember McCain and Giuliani never talked so highly of each other.

Giuliani would be an excellent choice, but not the best. Although he is a moderate and pro choice, he is also tough on crime and national security. America seems to generally like him as well. I also think Giuliani might help steal some moderate Hillary Clinton supporters from Obama.

What he will not do is unite the die-hard libertarian and conservative base of the party, but it may not matter, because they have no other choice but to fall in line or let Obama win.

Personally, I would love to see John McCain choose North Carolina Sen. Elizabeth Dole. Dole would be a thorn in the Obama’s campaign’s side. She is well known. She doesn’t have much controversy behind her, and she can rally the base of the party.

She has accomplished more in her life than Hillary Clinton and may be able to capture some of those I am voting for Hillary because she is a woman voter.

Who else do I like:

Governor of Mississippi and former RNC Chairman Haley Barbour: He is very conservative and did an excellent job in the aftermath of Katrina.

Governor of Minnesota Tim Pawlenty: Minnesota is going to be a battle ground state this year. McCain actually has a chance to win there. Pawlenty is young, conservative, and endorsed McCain early in the primary.

Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn: She is highly attractive with a great personality and very conservative. She has a 97 percent lifetime American Conservative Union rating. She has only been in office since 2002, but that still makes her more experienced than Barack Obama. Just like Dole, she would motivate the base and reach out to woman voters. However she doesn’t have the same name recognition as Dole.

Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison: She is also more accomplished than Hillary Clinton and has a lifetime ACU rating of 90.4 percent. Although she has been known not to be particularly conservative on immigration. That could be a problem.

Oh yeah they are unified at the DNC. A DNC delegate and Hillary Clinton supporter says, “If I had to base my vote on how Obama supporters have treated us, I’d be voting for McCain.”
The newest concern and drama facing the Obama campaign at the DNC; they won’t be able to drop multicolored balloons after Obama speaks because Invesco Field doesn’t have a roof to drop them from. Seems like a minor problem for the messiah!
Uh oh…looks like Barack Obama has another association with a radical Islamist who helped him get into Harvard. This is the guy you want to be president?
The Wall Street Journal explains why we cannot tax our way out of the entitlement crisis. I wonder if Barack Obama supporters can comprehend this?

Big T's Pic of the Day

Why would I feed them? Isn't that what the government does?

You Got to See This: Preview of Hillary Clinton’s DNC Speech Tonight.

Big T got his hands on a copy of how Hilary Clinton’s speech may go tonight at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Of course the theme will no doubt be unity, or will it, take a look. This is funny stuff.

Random Thoughts From Last Nights DNC

*Michelle Obama did an outstanding job last night, husband by satellite, children helping out, well done and well orchestrated by the Obama campaign.

*Teddy Kennedy also did an excellent job. It was good to see him able to make it.

*I know unity was the theme, but unity alone is not going to energize the base of the Democratic Party. Where were the campaign messages? I know this whole convention is hoopla and orchestrated, but even James Carville was asking the same thing in disgust on CNN. He was not pleased.

*Last night there was some talk from Michelle Obama about hope for the future, and how she wanted an America were people could achieve their dreams. I agree, but she forgot to add with the help of government. I want the government to get the hell out of the way of my dreams!

*Then we had Caroline Kennedy give a speech about what America has given us, in terms of government of course. I would rather think of what Americans have worked for and earned for themselves, but that is why I am conservative, and they are liberal.

*So, I flipped back and fourth between Fox news and CNN while watching this convention last night. I got to see Fox take it to the street and interview some of these young Obama supporters some questions.

No one could name any Obama accomplishments, and when asked why they support him: Well, he’s young, he has a nice voice, he’s handsome and he is a good performer. There you go folks, these kids are going to vote. Scary stuff isn’t it!

The Fox Reporter was quick to point out that the only vote many of these kids have ever casted was for American Idol.

*Not at one time, during the whole night did I here the words National Security.
*Final note, the DNC convention was dull and boring. It is going to have to get a lot better than this or Obama is finished.

Is China Drilling Off the Coast of Cuba?

There has been on going speculation over the last year that China is drilling for oil off the coast of Cuba. Recently Republican Florida Sen. Mel Martinez said China drilling off the coast of Cuba was just not so and was merely an urban legend.

So…which is it? Are they drilling or aren’t they? Since I don’t believe anything politicians say and half of what I read without investigating it to be true myself, I decided to do some research. Here is what I found.

In March 2004, China’s Petrochemical Corporation, Sinopec, signed a memorandum of understanding with Cuba’s national oil company, Cuba Petroleo or Cupet, to explore four oil blocks in Cuba. China’s Sinopec conducted six months of geological studies of the four Cuban blocks. This was the first attempt by Sinopec, China’s second largest oil and gas company, to enter oil and gas exploration and production in Cuba. It is important to also note the communist governments of China and Cuba owns these companies.

Approximately a year later in February 2005, China’s Sinopec signed an agreement with the Cuban government to jointly produce oil off the coast of Cuba.

So, basically what you have here is a production sharing agreement between Communist China government owned Sinopec and Cuba. Now for those of you who do not understand such business savvy terms, this basically means the Cuban government awards the execution of exploration and production activities to an oil company. In this case the company is Sinopec. The company bears the mineral and financial risk of the exploration and if successful, the company is permitted to use the recovered oil (cost oil) to pay all the expenses to recover it. All money after that (profit oil) is split between the government and the company at the rate agreed upon.

Here is some more information about oil exploration in Cuba. It is basically a timeline of energy news compiled from the World Security Institute. Here you will find not only is China dealing with Cuba, but so are places such as Canada, Brazil, Venezuela and Spain, to name a few.

Since we are focused on China, I have copied and pasted that information here.

January 31: Cuba and China signed a contract in Havana providing for the Asian giant's participation in extracting oil from a deposit off the island's north shore, the press reported. The deal is between Cubapetroleos and the Chinese oil company Sinopec, said the official daily newspapaer Granma. In December, Fidel Castro announced discovery of oil at a site offshore from Santa Cruz del Norte, some 55 kilometers (33 miles) east of Havana. The deposit is believed to hold some 100 million barrels of "light" crude, or the equivalent of 14 million tons. (EFE, Prensa Latina, 31/1/05)

February 8: China's oil giants began cultivating their virgin soil in Cuba. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), as the first comer, has inked a contract with Cuba Oil Company (Cubapetroleo) to jointly exploit oil in the Caribbean country. Under the terms of their contract, the two sides will join forces to prospect and exploit a potential oil-producing region. Chinese experts believe it is a significant beginning of the cooperation between China and Cuba in the petroleum industry. (SinoCast, 8/2/05)

March 22: Chinese oil drilling equipment has begun arriving in Cuba as state-run Cubapetroleo (Cupet) and its foreign partners prepare to significantly increase drilling along the northwest coast, industry sources said. "Four service units and a small rig have arrived and we are waiting for more," said a Cuban oil service manager, asking his name not be used. There are currently five rigs operating along the northwest heavy oil belt, an 80-mile (128-km) stretch of coast in Havana and Matanzas provinces from whence come all of Cuba's 70,000 to 80,000 barrels per day of heavy crude at 8 API to 18 API and with a high sulfur content. The poor-quality oil is burned in modified power plants and factories. Cuba imports a similar amount of oil and derivatives, with preferential financing from Venezuela. Canadian companies Sherritt International (S.TO) and Pebercan Inc. (PBC.TO), in conjunction with Cupet, account for 60 percent of the output, plus 2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. (Reuters, 22/3/05)

April 6: The operator of China's second-largest Shengli oilfield is stepping up overseas exploration, spending more on such ventures this year as the world's No. 2 oil user grapples with falling reserves, officials said. Shengli Oilfield Administration Bureau, a unit of state-run Sinopec Group, will spend about $40 million drilling for oil and gas in Cuba, Iran and central Asia in 2005, company officials said. "This will be the heaviest spending in a year and we expect the pace to continue in the next few years," a Shengli executive told the press. Shengli, which is among the first Chinese companies to venture abroad, will sink a total of eight wildcat and appraisal wells this year, four in Kazakhstan, two in Iran, and one each in Cuba and Kyrgyzstan. (Reuters, 6/4/05)

November 24: PetroChina Great Wall Drilling Co., Ltd. and Petroleum Company of Cuba held a ceremony for signing two drilling service contracts on November 3, 2005. It is the second-time cooperation between Great Wall Drilling Co., Ltd. and Petroleum Company of Cuba after the signing of a one-year petroleum service agreement on one 1500HP drilling rig and one 2000HP rig on April 8 this year. The contract signed this time includes three 2000HP drilling rigs. The contract has a period of one year and a value of over US$24 million. The project will be launched in January 2006. (China Chemical Reporter, 24/11/05)

Then I also found some 2005 reports from the Energy Intelligence Group and the National Post’s Financial Post & FP Investing in Canada.

…China is seeking oil everywhere and Cuba is no exception. Three large Chinese companies, SINOPEC, Petro China and CINOOC - China National Offshore Corporation, are involved in a large agreement, perhaps already underway, for coastal and deep-water explorations. Most significant to this topic, especially in light of other Chinese investment in Cuba, is the fact that Sinopec, China’s second largest oil company, has stated a goal of helping boost Cuba's domestic oil production and producing 60% of its oil needs by 2006. (As best we can gather by extrapolating from various sources, the island is producing roughly 43-45% of its minimal needs today, thus 60% self-sufficiency by next year would be a tremendous aid for Cuba‘s desperate needs for energy, particularly electricity and gasoline.) Although Cuba's oil production is relatively tiny, it has managed to quadruple its production levels of 1990 to 71,000 in 2003 and increase that to 75.000 b/d in 2004, but the country needs 160,000b/d to function just minimally (source: Energy Intelligence Group, Inc. International Oil Daily, February 1, 2005).

Additional plans for exploration and development of other blocs of potential reserves were announced by two other Chinese oil companies, China National Petroleum Corp. and China National Offshore Oil Corp., after talks with CUPET, Cuba Petroleum, Some exploration will be in coastal regions but much, based on the better quality of the oil, will take place in off-shore deep waters (source: National Post's Financial Post & FP Investing [Canada], February 1, 2005, all but Toronto Edition).

So, Sen. Martinez may be right. China may not be drilling oil off the coast of Cuba. Not yet anyway…look folks, the point isn’t that China is not presently drilling for oil 50 to 90 miles off the coast of Florida, but the bigger picture and point is they can! And thanks to the United States Congress, we can’t!

Some politicians like Sen. Martinez would like to focus on what is happening instead of what could happen. They can drill, we can’t. They are planning to, we aren’t. Even the government educated dumb masses should be able to figure that out.

Whatever Happened to Global Cooling?

Before there was “global warming” threatening the Earth, there was “global cooling.” All through the 70’s scientist was warning of the great threat of “global cooling.” That is right the Earth was cooling off back then. There were severe droughts lasting years in Africa causing catastrophic numbers of famine victims, record rain fall in the U.S., Pakistan and Japan causing some of the worst flooding in centuries. Canada suffered from a cold rainy spring bringing small wheat harvests. Some predicted it would become so bad that another Ice Age was coming.

Here is an insert from a June 24, 1974 Time Magazine:

…However widely the weather varies from place to place and time to time, when meteorologists take an average of temperatures around the globe they find that the atmosphere has been growing gradually cooler for the past three decades. The trend shows no indication of reversing. Climatological Cassandras are becoming increasingly apprehensive, for the weather aberrations they are studying may be the harbinger of another ice age.

Another Ice Age! Oh my…well I wonder what could be the cause of such things? Surely it could not be man could it?

Man, too, may be somewhat responsible for the cooling trend. The University of Wisconsin’s Reid A. Bryson and other climatologists suggest that dust and other particles released into the atmosphere as a result of farming and fuel burning may be blocking more and more sunlight from reaching and heating the surface of the earth.

Say what??? Burning fuel??? I thought that is what caused “global warming.” I mean is this not the exact opposite of the so called “green house effect?”

In this article “The Cooling World” from an April 28, 1975 Newsweek we are told of some outrageous solutions proposed to solve the crises of “global cooling.” Here is one:

…They (Scientists) concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the artic ice cap by covering it with black soot…

Wow…can you imagine if we had taken that advice…We would be in pretty bad shape today.

There is also something I found very interesting in the Newsweek article. I want you to look at the Average Temperature Change Chart. Do you notice anything about it? Notice from 1880 to the mid 1940’s the Earth’s temperature was increasing. Would that be a “global warming” period?

Could it be temperature change is just a cycle of warming and cooling?

I am not a scientist, never played one on TV, and have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express, but from what I continue to read on the subject of “climate change” continues to support my original theory on “global warming.”

There is no doubt in the time we live in the Earth’s temperature is rising, just as it has before, and just like before, it is rising after a cooling cycle, neither caused by the work of man kind.

The only hot air threatening the Earth is the hot air coming out of Al Gore’s mouth.

How is this for unity at the DNC? Apparently a black Barack Obama supporter called a black Hillary Clinton supporter an “Uncle Tom.”
The democrats must think Mitt Romney is going to be the VP running mate for McCain. God, I hope not! The ticket is already bad enough. I will give you my picks of who I would like to see tomorrow.

Big T's Pic of the Day

Here is an image that probably never made your morning paper.
The good work continues in Afghanistan.

Joe Biden is an Odd Choice for Obama.

Barack Obama announced Deleware Senator Joseph Biden as his VP running mate. This seems to be a odd choice for Obama, considering Biden once supported John McCain as a vice presidential choice for John Kerry in 2004.

And let’s face it; Biden isn’t known for his smooth talking, savvy off the cuff comments. In fact, he is known for his politically incorrect comments, for instance when he called Obama a “clean” black person.

In a February 2007 interview with the New York Observer Biden said, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice looking guy. I mean that is story book, man.”

Biden stirred up the pudding good and race pimp Al Sharpton was quick to show his distaste toward the comments telling Biden, “I take a bath everyday.”

However this is not the first time Biden has gaffed. How about in October 2007 when he told the Washington Post, --One reason that so many District of Columbia schools fail is the city’s high minority population… What??? Let a conservative say that and their career would virtually be over.

Here is another quote from Biden:

“In Delaware, the largest growth in population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin Donut unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.” [Video here]

Then in this video we have Biden basically bragging that Delaware was a slave state and that he is not a Northeastern liberal…huh???

So here we have a man who blurts out what is on his mind, politically correct or not, at not the best of times. This has the potential to make the rest of this election season highly entertaining, but this had very little bearing in Obama’s decision to pick him as his running mate.

What Biden ads to Obama’s ticket is experience, particularly on foreign policy. He has, after all, been the head of the Foreign Relations Committee since June 2001. At the same time what Obama does not need is someone to emphasizes his own inexperience.

Which makes the Delaware Senator an even odder choice, considering in the primary it was Biden who harped on Obama’s lack of experience and said he was not ready to serve as president.

In my opinion, Obama has displayed a complete lack of confidence by choosing a Washington insider that has been in office longer than half of all Americans have been alive. So much for a campaign of change, looks like the same old thing to me.

Michael Phelps Sends Right Message to Children

Olympic swimming star and living legend Michael Phelps is going to be on a cereal box. No not the Wheaties box, but on Kellogs Frosted Flakes!

There is some sharp criticism comming from health experts out there that Phelps on the box of a cereal with this much sugar content is sending the wrong message to children accross America... Are they serious....You know what message Phelps sends to children accross America? Get off the couch, work and achieve your dreams!

It may be true Kellogs Frosted Flakes is not the typical "breakfest of champions," but "they are great" and so is Michael Phelps.

The Karachi Kids A Must See Documentary!

I just finished the film and documentary “The Karachi Kids” and was frighteningly shocked! I was unaware so many American children were being taught in these madrassa schools of hate throughout Pakistan. The real scary part is they will return to the United States after being brain washed in the religion of the Taliban. This is a must see documentary and the most powerful film of the summer sure to bring attention to a much needed debate about radical Islam to the home front.

Imran Raza, a Pakistani-American filmmaker, takes you inside Pakistani madrassas to examine the root of this radical terrorist idealogy. While there Raza shockingly discovers two American brothers from Atlanta, Georgia. 18 months later in march of 2007 he returns for a six month stay in the dangerous city of Karachi, to not only find the Khan brothers, but up to 80 other American boys in the same madrassa.

It is estimated there are more than 600 American children currently being taught in madressas throughout Pakistan. Some learning a radicalized version of the Koran called Deobandism, religion of the Taliban. There is no math, science, English, history or other subjects. They are taught to live for death and all of life’s many pleasures come in the afterlife.

It’s a story that will show you a world of abuse, loneliness and transformation into radical Islam the Karachi kids go through while in these madrassas.

Nancy Pelosi and Democrats Slamming the Door on Domestic Drilling.

Looks like Nancy Pelosi and company have slammed the door on expanding our efforts to drill for oil anytime in the near future. Pelosi has decided oil companies can use the areas already approved for exploration, and calls the idea of drilling in areas protected “a hoax.” Well, I guess we better get use to these gas prices then.

This seems to be the new stance from the Democrats. “Instead of opening up new areas to exploration they should use the 90 million or so acres already available to them.” Yes, they are right, there are areas open to exploration, but the key word here is exploration. Just because you explore something doesn’t mean you actually find what you are looking for. Even Nancy Pelosi and friends should be able to realize that.

And in some areas there very well may be oil, but they are in depths or there are other logistical problems making extraction either impossible or not cost effective to pull it out of the ground. Look folks, there are other areas where oil can be extracted economically, but those are the areas democrats have placed a no trespassing sign on.

According to Nancy Pelosi, this is the entire problem is the republicans fault. She says efforts to expand drilling are “a decoy to punt attention away from the fact that [republican] policies have produced $4-a-gallon gasoline.”

Really??? Name me a policy Nancy? What policy would it be? The only policy I can think of is republicans caving to democrats when they had the majority.

Now, Pelosi is not a dumb lady…her stupidity on issues is underlined with ulterior motives. Pelosi and democrats know if the United States announced plans to open up ANWR, the Gulf Coast, oil shale lands in the west for oil exploration and recovery it is very likely oil prices would drop substantially.

OPEC nations would probably drop prices in hopes they could stall or stop the American drilling effort. Pelosi and democrats also know voters have a habit of attributing this kind of success or failure to the White House and they are not going to allow anything that would make a Republican look good, even if it means you have to pay five dollars a gallon for gas.

Environmentalist Part of the Problem of High Oil Prices

British Petroleum or BP wants to expand on an oil refinery in Whiting, Indiana. This would be a great thing considering no new oil refineries have been built since 1976, which is another reason you are paying four dollars for gas. Environmentalist does not seem to care about such matters though. On Wednesday, environmental group The Natural Resources Defense Council filed a lawsuit that challenged air permits granted to BP by the State of Indiana.

The group claims the permits “simply do not protect the public and do not live up to the law.”

Protect the public… from what? The potential to increase gas and diesel production by 1.7 million gallons a day, or maybe it is protection from the creation of 2,000 construction jobs that would be created from the project to help Indiana families. What about the 80 permanent jobs it would create to run the place.

A Nation of Whiners

Former GOP Sen. Phil Gramm, a top economical adviser to John McCain referred to the economical slowdown as “a mental recession and called the U.S. “a nation of whiners.”

“You've heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession. ... We have sort of become a nation of whiners."“You just hear this constant whining, complaining, about a loss of competitiveness, America in decline. ... We've never been more dominant; we've never had more natural advantages than we have today.”

Of course, John McCain quickly distance him from the comments saying Gramm “does not speak for me – I speak for me.”

I look for McCain to more than likely fire Gramm over the comments. I would have embraced the comments, which is why I will never be elected for anything. Gramm is absolutely right. We are in a “mental recession”

By book definition a recession is a decline in a country’s real gross domestic product or negative real economic growth, for two or more successive quarters of a year. We have been close, but we are not there yet.

However the media and politicians have been successful in making people believe we are in a recession. So in this case, perception has become reality even though the textbook definition has yet to happen. It is a “mental recession.”

We have become a country of whiners, because all of a sudden we can’t afford Starbucks in the morning and it is hard times! We need the government to fix it!

Go to Afghanistan and see how people live. The poorest of the poor in America never had it so good compared to some other places. Yet, they moan, whine and sob about how bad they have it, and then vote for a politician who tells them they will make it better instead of going out, taking advantage of the freedom to make it better on your own.

Yes, I will agree we are a “nation of whiners” as well

It must be hard to support a candidate you actually want to....uh...how should I say it...castrate!

Rev. Jesse Jackson Caught Obama Bashing!

Oh this is priceless…It looks like the Rev. Jesse Jackson has fell victim to a hot mic. A hot mic is what is referred to in broadcasting as a microphone that is turned on before actually going on the air. It has gotten several people in trouble over the years.

Anyways here we have Jackson sitting in the studio with Reid Tuckson from the United Health Care Group waiting to go on the air when for reasons unknown Jackson feels the urge to tell Tuckson that he wants to cut Barack Obama’s man hood off!

“See Barack, um, talking down to black people on his faith based…I want to cut his n#ts off. Barack, he’s talking down the black people.”
Of course, Jackson is now apologizing every chance he gets, and Obama has accepted his apology, but the damage has been done. More damage to Jackson than Obama.

So why would Jackson say such a ridiculous thing? I am not sure, but a part of me feels it may have something to do with jealousy toward Obama. This whole Obama worship thing is driving him mad. After all he is the supreme civil rights leader, not Obama. He was the one marching with Martin Luther King while Obama was barely out of diapers, and now Obama is stealing the spotlight running for president.

Another reason may be Jackson feels if a black man wins the presidency then he may be out of a job as a civil rights leader. It is kind of hard to make a case for a racist country when a black man is elected to the presidency is it not?

Or maybe Jackson is just a plain nut case. I mean it isn’t the first time he has said something completely off the wall. Here is a list of some other fun quotes from him.

“There is nothing more painful to me…than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.” (Wow….what happens if a white man says that?)

“Great things happen in small places. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Jesse Jackson was born in Greenville.” (I guess he had the messiah complex going as well)

“When we’re unemployed, were called lazy; when whites are unemployed it’s called a depression.”

“Capital punishment turns the state into a murderer, but imprisonment turns the state into a gay dungeon master.”

Cleaner Skies Causing Global Warming?

It has been a while since I have posted anything on here to throw at your global warming hippie friends. Well, here you go…

An article from the New Scientist proclaims cleaner skies have not helped reduce rising temperatures, but have actually contributed to at least half of the warming that has occurred in Europe since 1980.

Here is what seems to be going on. The cleaner sky allows more of the sun’s rays to shine through the atmosphere, which causes more warming on earth. In Europe, the temperature has risen one degree Celcius since 1980.

Scientist at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science in Switzerland took aerosol concentrations form six areas in northern Europe and compared them with solar-radiation measurements over the same period. They found aerosol concentrations dropped by up to 60% while solar-radiation rose about 1 watt per square meter.

I guess that means some global warming is man-made after all. Cleaning up the atmosphere causes global warming…. who’d a thunk it!

New Children’s Worship Book about Barack Obama

Isn’t this just grand! A Barack Obama supporter and children’s book author Garen Thomas has wrote a children’s book about Obama. The book entitled Yes We Can: A Biography of Barack Obama is targeted at the 9-12 year old crowd, because it is never to early to teach our kids about the “great one.”

Meghan Cox Gurdon reviewed the book for the Wall Street Journal. She called the book more of a hagiography than a biography. A hagio-what? I wasn’t sure what it meant either so I looked it up. The definition of hagiography would be “the writing and critical study of the lives of the saints.” Well, that makes sense, after all we are talking about the “messiah our lord” Barack Obama.

In her review, Gurdon lays out some shocking revelations of what you will find in the book. For instance, Author Thomas writes: “There has emerged a new leader who seems to be granting Americans a renewed license to dream.” Isn’t that awesome kids! Why thanks to Obama you are now free…free at last to dream again! Apparently, your license to dream had been revoked or suspended…who knew?

Thomas also proclaims in her book of worship that Obama “reminded Americans that what was keeping everyone down was the fact that workers were losing their jobs to people in other countries, because American businesses wanted to pay less for labor. In addition, people running businesses were in the habit of paying themselves a lot, while leaving ordinary Americans behind, scraping to get by.” Later in the children’s book she writes, “All Americans were struggling and worried about their financial futures.”

Now that is some indoctrinating stuff don’t you think? A classic example of wealth envy…it is never to early to teach the children that it is the “big bad evil rich American businessman” keeping everyone else down, because they want to pay themselves a lot and leave ordinary Americans scraping to get by. This is nothing less than an anti-capitalist drive by on your children written by an Obama worshiper.

Has anyone come to think that it is the so-called “big bad evil rich American businessman” providing jobs for the so-called “ordinary Americans.” How many jobs has the government taxed out of America and forced the businessman to send overseas because it is no longer cost effective to hire the American worker?

How many of you ever got a job from a poor man? Anyone?

Anyways, now that I think about it, this is a great idea to write a children’s book about Obama. Now the majority of his worshipers and cult followers have a book they can actually read and understand.

No Room for Your Flat Screen in a Green World.

Oh my…looks like all you global warming freaks out there are going to have to give up your flat screen TVs. It turns out your flat screen TV is contributing to global warming because of a greenhouse gas used in its production. The green house gas called nitrogen trifluoride is said to be 17,000 times more potent than carbon dioxide and stays in the atmosphere for 550 years.

Oh and this green house gas is not restricted or limited by the Kyoto protocol or other similar agreements. I am sure it will not take long for government to put restrictions on this new pollutant. Which will mean one of two things for flat screen TVs. They will either stop making them or they will cost so much most people will not be able to afford them.

Something tells me we are at the wrong end of the rainbow!

He stole from the rich, to give to the poor.

No, I am not talking about Robin Hood. I am talking about Barack Obama and his tax policies. His tax policies will do just that, steal from the rich and give to the poor.

Now here is something you won’t find in the mainstream media. First off, they don’t want you to know and secondly, tax discussion just doesn’t bring in the ratings. The Tax Foundation has run some hard numbers on Barack Obama’s tax plan. Scott Hodge, president of the Tax Foundation, explains Obama’s tax plan for 2009 calls for the redistribution of more than 131 billion dollars from the top one percent of taxpayers. That will mean the top one percent of households would pay more in federal taxes of all kinds than the bottom 80 percent of households. This doesn’t even take into account the Obama plan to raise payroll taxes on those evil rich folks making over 250,000 bucks a year.

Anyways, Hodge estimates under the Obama plan 1.13 million Americans will pay more in federal taxes than 128 million other Americans combined. In other words, Obama’s plan increases the tax burden on top earners by an additional $40 billion a year. This 40 billion-tax hike is twice as much as all the federal taxes that are paid by the bottom percentile of taxpayers.

What we have here is income redistribution. He is stealing from the rich to give to the poor, a real modern day Robin Hood. I doubt Obama sees it that way though, after all he believes that income isn’t earned in the first place; it is acquired on the basis of luck and good fortune.

Here is just a thought… Is there anyone out there that thinks our economy can take a 40 billion dollar hit right now? What happens when the top gets nailed for 40 billion in more taxes? Do they not pass the expense on to the consumer? Perhaps you work for someone about to get hit with this new expense. Is your job going to pay for it, or will it be cut to make up for the difference. It is just a thought some of you may want to consider?

Ugh…you can always count on government to slow down progress.

In case you have not realized it yet, we are in the midst of a major energy crisis in this country. Now, some of you believe the solution to this crisis will come from the oh so wonderful government. You are wrong. The solution, as almost always, will come from the private sector. All the government has to do is get out of the way.

However, that is not happening. Solar thermal energy companies are getting a lesson in government regulations. These companies have proposed to build more than 130 solar power plants over 119 million surface acres of federally administered land in sun drenched, flat desert tracts of Arizona, Nevada and Southern California that is ideal for solar energy. These companies extract energy from the sun and then sell that energy to utility companies. It is estimated the projects have the potential to power 20 million homes, but the government has put a halt on new solar projects on public lands in order to study their environmental impact, which is estimated to take two years.

Solar energy is a fairly new industry, and most of these companies are new, struggling, hungry companies. It will be hard for them to stay afloat with a set back like this. This could stunt the growth of the energy.

This is your government at work solving the energy crisis. You can always count on government to slow down progress.

I want you to remember this story this winter when your power bills are through the roof.

The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon

What an amazing place! You really cannot comprehend just how big of an area this place is or how beautiful it is. There is not a picture in the world that can capture its size or beauty. It is just completely breath taking. If you have never been to the Grand Canyon you are truly missing out on one of the most amazing sights in the world!

Although beautifully amazing it is also a pretty dangerous place. In conversation with a park ranger I learned on the average 11 people die here a year. This influenced me to buy this book I am currently reading, Over the Edge: Death in Grand Canyon by Michael P. Ghiglieri and Thomas M. Myers. It tells the gripping accounts of all known fatal mishaps at the Grand Canyon. It is a pretty interesting read.

It seems the Grand Canyon instills the rules of Darwinism quite well. In most accounts, death occurs after someone performs an action of stupidity that you just shouldn’t do next to a 600-foot drop off.

I blame this on the “911 mentality.” The thought process that rescue is just a cell phone call away if you place yourself in harms way and need saving. Even during my visit I witnessed people who seemed to think the national park is like an amusement park.

Nothing could be further from that misguided perception. Walt Disney had no hand in building the Grand Canyon. The canyon was built by nature. When you mess up in nature, nature makes you pay for your mistakes or lack of good judgment, and all to often, it ends tragically. Just the way it is.

The Big T Idiot of the Week

Here is a perfect example of how nature makes you pay for your actions. Kasey Edwards is a Florida teenager living in Orlando. Kasey, for reasons unknown, got the great idea to take a swim at 2am in the morning in canal waters he knew was infested with alligators.

As you can imagine, Kasey paid a severe price for his lack of good judgment. An alligator attacked and ripped his left arm off while swimming. Rescue workers found the arm in the stomach of the gator, but it could not be attached.

Instead of taking responsibility for his stupid decision to swim in gator infested waters, Kasey is placing the blame for what happened to him on the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for not properly controlling the alligator population.

Are you kidding me? This kid should just be thankful the only thing he lost is an arm to his own stupidity. While the Big T is glad to hear he lived through the encounter, Kasey Edwards is still the Big T idiot of the Week.

Barack Obama shifting to the Right

Are you enjoying your summer of change with Barack Obama? Apparently Obama loves change so much he is changing his positions on a whole lot of issues. Obama has gone so far as to now say we can’t just pull out of Iraq until the situation there has stabilized. That is a big change from the position he adopted during the primaries. Here are just a few other issues Obama has flip flopped…oops I mean changed on:

*He was against granting immunity to telecommunication companies that aided our government in eavesdropping on telephone messages to and from known terrorist operatives overseas. Now he is for granting immunity to them.

*Obama has said several times through out his short political career that he wholeheartedly supported the ban on private ownership of guns in DC. Then, after the Supreme Court came down with their recent ruling, suddenly Obama is a supporter of the people’s right to keep and bear arms.

*Earlier this year Obama said he was going to accept public financing of his presidential campaign after the convention. Now that he has seen he can get more money from private contributions than he would from public financing, he has changed his mind.

*NAFTA? Barack was going to immediately renegotiate all of the NAFTA treaty. Now, not so much…he must of change his mind again.

*Obama once said the issue of gay marriage should be left up to the state, but now he opposes a California ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriages.

*He once opposed the Republican, later adopted by Bill Clinton, welfare reform plan, calling it “disturbing.” Now he embraces it.

Perhaps “Change you can Believe in” is just Obama changing his mind.

Architect of Canadian Healthcare admits it is a Failure.

Canadian Claude Castonguay, other wise known as “the father of Quebec medicare,” was the architect for the Canadian Healthcare System. Back in the 1960s, Castonguay was the chairman of the Canadian government committee studying health reform, and he’s the one that suggested the province of Quebec adopt a government healthcare system covering all citizens through taxes.

Today Castonguay is an advocate for contracting out services to the private sector, and he sits as chairman of a government committee reviewing Quebec health care this year. He concludes the system is in “crisis.”

"We thought we could resolve the system's problems by rationing services or injecting massive amounts of new money into it," says Castonguay. But now he prescribes a radical overhaul: "We are proposing to give a greater role to the private sector so that people can exercise freedom of choice."

Wow! “Freedom of choice!” What a concept from the creator of Canada’s government healthcare system.

So what’s going on? Why has Castonguay jumped ship on socialized medicine? How about a healthcare system that has left hundreds of thousands of Canadians in desperate need of medical attention and all they can do is wait for care, any care. Some towns actually hold lotteries to win appointments with the local family doctor.

One woman with a 13 inch, fluid filled, 40-pound tumor got tired of waiting and came to America for her care. A surgeon in Michigan removed it, estimating the woman would not have lived longer than a few weeks. She was denied care by her homeland, because she did not properly fill out a form! Isn’t government just dandy!

Here in this country, the above situations are unusual, and Canadians send numerous patients to the U.S. for medical care every year to alleviate their overburdened system.

Canada is not the only nation facing a government ran healthcare meltdown. The British has a system that is similarly plagued with the same problems.

Now I know a lot of people do not like our current system, but more government is not the answer. The fact is the US has the best healthcare money can buy in the world, because we still, to a certain extent, allow a free market system. Both Canada and Britain trail behind the U.S. in five-year cancer survival rates, transplantation outcomes, and other measures.

This is something to consider for all you Barack Obama supporters who hope in overwhelming excitement the government takes care of your healthcare needs. I can hear you now.

“He is for change! He is going to change the healthcare system and solve America’s healthcare needs!”

It will definitely be a change… I just want to know one thing. If socialized medicine comes to America, where the hell are Canadians going to go for their healthcare needs? Mexico? The Bahamas?

Supreme Court Rules on Right to Bear Arms

Yes. I know. I am supposed to be on vacation, and I am. I am having a blast, but I have also been waiting for the Supreme Court to rule on the right to bear arms. Well the wait is over.

The Supreme Court has ruled by a narrow margin of 5-4 the 2nd Amendment protects the rights of citizens not the rights of government. This is good news for those who believe in the right to defend themselves, bad news for those with the “911 mentality” who believe the police will always be there to protect them.

It is good news for those who understand the only way to preserve freedom is through the barrel of a gun, bad news for those who would rather have security from government rather than freedom.

Here is something else to consider as the uproar of this ruling spreads across the country and liberals go into shock. Without President George W. Bush’s appointments to the Supreme Court this would have been a completely different ruling. If Al Gore had won the presidency, he would have made the appointments and your right to bear arms for self-defense would have been ripped to shreds today.

Thank God for Florida… OK…back to my vacation, but since I am here, here is some reading and viewing.
